Searching for your first job? Looking to relocate? or are you just ready to start something new with your career? We all know the struggle of job hunting and how stressful it can be to take the right steps to prepare for job interviews. Here's 8 do's and dont's when seeking employment.

1. Do look for a job that will benefit your finances. Everyone has their own agenda when it comes to their personal finances. During your job search pay attention to pay rates and salaries. Finding a good paying job will benefit you by fulfilling your everyday needs and responsibilities such as bills, groceries, rent ,mortgage, a casual night out with friends, or even occasionally gifting yourself with something nice etc.

2. Do follow up contacts with potential employers. Following up with a potential employer helps you to stand out. Reaching out will show how interested you are in working for the employer which is a great look. It doesn't hurt to request an update on how your interview went which can help provide pointers for your next one.

3. Do make sure your resume is always up to date. Making sure your resume is up to date will highlight your most attractive skills and experience for employers to see. Updating your resume can also provide a confidence boost to remind yourself of your accomplishments when interview time comes around.

4. Do your research on employers before your interview. It is important to look beyond what a company does. Doing your own research on a potential employer can help widen your lens and determine if this company is the right fit for you. Researching a potential employer can also prepare you to ask meaningful questions during your interview.

5. Don't dress down. Dressing in the proper attire shows a potential employer how serious you are about getting the job. Dressing the part can also show that you respect the company's culture and would be a great addition to the company's workplace. Think about that boost of confidence you'll have when you walk into your interview prepared and well dressed.

6. Don't always assume you will get the job. There will be wins and losses when it comes to job interviews. Some employers may think you have a lot of potential but not the required skills to work for their company even after a good interview. Don't be discouraged , just keep going.

7. Don't be afraid to show your personality. Confidence is key. Showing potential employers that awesome personality of yours during an interview promotes your strength and what you can bring to the table. You never know if it's you that the company actually needs when you express your passion, interests and values in your own way.

8. Don't search for jobs that don't interest you. Job and career interests reflect stable work environments. Searching for a job that you actually like can motivate you to stay committed to your career goals. Choosing a job that utilizes your best skills prevents frustration and promotes more passion in your work which gives you a better chance at growing within the company.
